What SMS does and does not do

Current SMS policy

Tideflow does not send automatic outbound SMS messages to callers or contacts. All proactive SMS triggers are disabled. This is an intentional policy decision, not a limitation of the platform.

What SMS supports today

The Tideflow phone number currently supports two SMS-related functions:

Self-notes

As the verified workspace owner, you can text your own Tideflow number to capture quick notes and reminders. These appear in your messages area and are useful for logging thoughts or tasks on the go.

• Only the verified owner phone number is recognised for self-notes
• Messages from other numbers are not processed as self-notes
• You must complete phone verification during onboarding for this feature to work (see activate your workspace)

Inbound message handling

Inbound text messages from callers or unknown numbers are logged but do not trigger automated replies. Tideflow does not auto-respond to inbound SMS.

What SMS does not do

• No automatic follow-up texts— Tideflow does not send SMS to callers after a missed call or voicemail.
• No appointment confirmations or reminders— SMS-based booking notifications are not sent.
• No marketing or promotional messages— Tideflow never sends bulk or promotional SMS.
• No two-way SMS conversations— The in-app assistant handles workspace owner conversations, not SMS threads.

Why this policy exists

Unsolicited outbound SMS creates compliance risk, can damage your business reputation, and is not the right default for a call handling product. Tideflow focuses on answering calls well and delivering structured summaries through channels you control (dashboard, Slack, webhooks), rather than sending messages callers did not ask for.
