Getting Started
Make your first test call
Use a short validation checklist to confirm your setup is live before relying on it day to day.

Why test before going live
A quick test call confirms that your number setup, forwarding (if used), and call handling mode are all working correctly. It takes less than two minutes and saves you from finding out something is wrong when a real customer calls.
What you need
- A phone that is not your Tideflow-connected business number
- Access to your Tideflow dashboard
Test call checklist
1. Place the call
Call your business number (or your Tideflow number directly if you are not using forwarding) from a second phone. Use a mobile or any line that is different from the one connected to Tideflow.
2. Listen to the greeting
If you are using AI receptionist mode, you should hear a natural voice greeting that includes your business name. If you are using voicemail mode, you should hear a professional voicemail prompt.
3. Complete the interaction
- AI receptionist: Answer the receptionist's questions. Give your name, say why you are calling, and let the conversation complete naturally.
- Voicemail: Leave a short test message after the tone.
4. Check the dashboard
Open your Tideflow dashboard and look at recent activity. Within a short time you should see:
- The call record with the caller name and number
- A summary or transcription of what was said
- A recording you can play back
5. Check notifications (optional)
If you have Slack or another integration configured, check that the notification arrived. This confirms the full end-to-end flow from call to notification.
What to do if something is not right
| Symptom | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Call goes to your personal voicemail, not Tideflow | Set up call forwarding or troubleshoot forwarding |
| Call is answered but the greeting sounds wrong | Check your business name and call mode in workspace settings |
| Call does not appear in the dashboard | Call not showing in app |
| Slack notification did not arrive | Check your Slack integration setup |
You are all set
If the test call went through, the dashboard shows the record, and your notifications arrived, your Tideflow setup is live and ready for real callers.
